Great segment on the Brian Lehrer Show this morning about the “New York values” referred to with such disdain by politicians (namely, Republicans). The audio will be uploaded soon after the segment ends:
New York is cold, hell is hot, and this rat is a hustler.
Dear Dr. Zizmor: Thank you for improving my face! Thank you for improving my life! Thank you so much! Isabel R. NY, NY.
I thought this might appeal to some people. Feel free to share to more appropriate sub blogs. It opens Saturday in NYC.
Welcome to the latest round of Idiotic Victim-Blaming: Dead Pedestrian Version!
There’s a certain ignored artistry to manhole covers in New York City. Millions of people walk over thousands every day and pay no attention to what they look like or where they’re from or how they’re made. They come from all over the world, with one of the largest exporters of manhole covers being in Howrah, India.…
The Empire State Building may be one of the smaller dicks in this chart, but it is one of the most beautiful. Who cares how tall a dick is if looks really fucking stupid? (I’m looking at you, Shanghai Tower)
Just read this article about the many closed subway entrances in Brooklyn. I used to live off a stop like that and it was irritating to have to walk an extra 3 blocks to catch the train. Especially on a freezing winter night.
Two cats (brother and sister) in the NYC area need to be re-homed. They are very sweet and silly, and I would take them myself in a heartbeat if my residence allowed pets. Let me know if you or anyone you know would be willing.

The September 11th Memorial Museum will be open to certain qualifying people for free on the evening of September 10th from 5 til closing. You have to register and reserve tickets.
You invoke September 11th as a step on the ladder to your platform to win the primary/nomination?

Hello fellow denizens of the kinjaverse and welcome to the very weekly Whitenoise, Hackerspace, Groupthink, Odeck, Tay, Oppo, Backtalk, Clashtalk, and Powder Room cross thread. How are you all doing this fine July morning? How was your 4th if you’re an American?
I’ve been around Jezebel and GT since around 2008 (2009 for GT). Been to probably thirty meetups, met some lifelong friends, met lots of faces that stay with me but kind of pass away as the users stop posting. As is the way of things. Not everyone is a life-friend, and that’s fine.
Ooh, can I get a share for a NYC meetup? This Tuesday at the Cubbyhole! $2 Margaritas!
In light of the push to remove symbols honoring the Confederacy from our nation’s government buildings and college campuses, I thought I would share a really interesting article that I found digging around the Brooklyn neighborhood blogs in 2008.
Thank GOD! Our state senate might not have been able to come to any agreement about NYC rent regulation, but at least they were able to settle on an official state amphibian. CRISIS AVERTED. The bill passed the senate by one vote! *whew*
